"Using the M2M Transformer Monitoring system, Xcel Energy saved $190,000 during the five months of 2001, but more importantly, prevented the failure of older transformers due to overloads during high ambient temperature days. This far exceeds the cost of the system during this time, which is a monthly service fee of only a few hundred dollars per month. In addition, using this system allowed Xcel personnel to monitor the condition of these older transformers over many operating points and thereby determine the state of these units and their ability to remain in service for many future years."
